Weather Warnings in Effect for Tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH WIND WARNING in effect for Stamford from 11am this morning to 6am Thursday. There is also a COASTAL FLOOD WARNING in effect from 4pm this afternoon to 10am Thursday.

Residents should prepare for high winds bringing possible power outages, and to remove items in yards that can become projectiles. Winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected.

Flooding may impact local vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements that typically experience flooding. 1 and ½ to 2 and ½ feet of inundation above ground level can be expected. The combination of heavy rain, runoff and elevated water levels this evening and early Thursday morning may cause localized flash flooding along some shoreline roads and properties.

All residents are asked to monitor media and news outlets for changing conditions, especially those who live along the coast.
