Notice of Unclaimed Money

Cosumnes Community Services District hereby provides notice to owners of unclaimed money held in the District's possession that any unclaimed money from the 2014-2020 Calendar Year will escheat to the District by operation of law if not claimed by 5:00 p.m. on April 8, 2024.

California Government Code Sections 50050 through 50057 provide authority for the proper disposition and accounting of unclaimed money.

Funds that remain unclaimed for a period of more than three years will become the property of the Cosumnes Community Services District if not claimed or if no verified complaint is filed and served on or before the specific date in the published notice.

A notice for the unclaimed property will be published once a week for two consecutive weeks in The Elk Grove Citizen and The Galt Herald. The notice shall state the individual or business name, the amount of money, and that the money will become the property of the District on a specific date (not less than 45 nor more than 60 days after the first publication).

Upon or prior to publication, a party of interest may file a claim for the unclaimed property.

Procedures for Claiming Unclaimed Property

To File a Claim

The owner of record, or any other person with a legal right to ownership interest in the property, may file a claim for the property.

Claimants must complete the District's Unclaimed Property Form (PDF) and submit it via email, mail, or in person at the provided addresses below.

Please include the Unclaimed Property Form and a copy of a government-issued photo ID. Failure to submit a claim with the required information may result in your claim being denied.
