LBPD RELEASES 3RD ANNUAL YEAR IN REVIEW AND ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance internal and external communications, the Long Beach Police Department has released its 3rd Annual Year in Review and Accountability Report.

This report includes notable achievements from 2024 as well as information about our department demographics and staffing, organizational structure, 2024 year-end crime statistics, and efforts to reduce crime and enhance safety in Long Beach.

This report also includes our Professional Standards Division Accountability Report, which includes statistical information about complaints investigated by the LBPD Internal Affairs Section.

"As we reflect on 2024, I am extremely appreciative of the unwavering commitment to public safety demonstrated by the employees of the Long Beach Police Department," said Chief Wally Hebeish. "I am thankful for the tireless dedication of the officers and professional staff, as well as our city and community partners, for all their work towards accomplishing our mission of reducing crime and enhancing safety in our community."

Some notable 2024 accomplishments are as follows:

  • Reduction in shootings for the 3rd year in a row
  • Over 860 firearms recovered
  • Over 216,000 calls for service with an average Priority 1 response time of 5.8 minutes
  • Over 3800 felony arrests
  • Creation of the High Crime Focus Team to address emerging crime trends in our community. This team supports patrol operations by responding to citywide public safety concerns, ranging from violent crime and illegal firearms to business corridor safety and quality of life issues.
  • Launch of the Education, Engagement, and Enforcement initiative, created to address commercial crimes and share crime reporting and prevention strategies with our business community.
