New ambulance station for the Hawkesbury community

​​The Hawkesbury community is a step closer to a new purpose-built ambulance station following the purchase of a site on Acacia Close, South Windsor.

Health Minister Ryan Park said the NSW Government has purchased the site marking a significant milestone in delivering a vital health service which will serve communities across the Hawkesbury.

"The new South Windsor Ambulance Station will support local paramedics to provide the best emergency medical care now and into the future," Mr Park said.

"Health Infrastructure and NSW Ambulance carried out a thorough evaluation of the site to ensure the location best meets the needs of the local community and our ambulance operations and paramedics.

"This newly planned South Windsor Ambulance Station will be a significant investment for our paramedics and the community that will bolster emergency care for the communities of the Hawkesbury and provide a modern workplace for local paramedics.

Labor Spokesperson for Hawkesbury, Peter Primrose MLC is excited for the community and its local paramedics to have access to state-of-the-art ambulance facilities so close to home.

"I'm so thrilled that our Hawkesbury paramedics will have a purpose-built station to help them deliver the best possible emergency and mobile medical care when and where it's needed," Mr Primrose said.

"The new South Windsor Ambulance Station will also improve network coverage by supporting existing stations such as the ambulance station at Richmond."

The site was identified following a comprehensive service planning process using best practice modelling software which maps Triple Zero calls.

The site, which has good access to the major road network, is ideally suited to form part of the ambulance station network and to improve emergency ambulance response times in the Hawkesbury area.

New ambulance stations throughout NSW are located at places which optimise ambulance response performance and meet the future health needs of the community.

The next steps for the project include design development, community consultation and seeking planning approval for the new station. Construction and operational timeframes will be determined as the project progresses.

The new South Windsor Ambulance Station is being delivered as part of the NSW Government's $488.8 million NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program.

The Program will deliver 30 additional ambulance stations and supporting infrastructure across Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle and Wollongong over the coming years, boosting frontline emergency ambulance care.
