ABP’s Port of Hull celebrates Heritage Open Day

Associated British Ports will be marking Heritage Open Day 2023 at the Port of Hull on Tuesday the 12^th of September. Each year Heritage Open Days across England celebrate heritage, community and history.

As a busy trade gateway, the port is mostly closed to members of the public, but two behind the scenes tours have been organised by ABP, allowing tour goers to learn more about King George Dock and the wider work of ABP.

Dafydd Williams, Head of Policy, Communications & Economic Development for the Humber, said: "ABP's Humber Ports are steeped in maritime history. As Yorkshire's Maritime City, Hull plays a significant role in promoting the regions past. The Port of Hull, along with Immingham, Grimsby and Goole have and continue to be intrinsic to UK trade contributing £2.5b to the UK economy each year."

The Port of Hull guided coach tour will make its way from P&O Ferry Rotterdam Terminal to King George Dock where a number of vessels will be berthed. Full commentary is provided throughout the tour offering historical insights and an overview of the modern day Port operations. Opportunities to ask questions throughout the tour will be available.

Along with the Port of Hull's Heritage Open Day tours. ABP is working in partnership with businesses and North East Lincolnshire Council to bring historic Kasbah to life with food, craft, music, demonstrations and more.
