Thirty-five per cent of Finals tickets sold in first 24 hours

Ticket sales for the 2021 Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas Finals are off to a flying start, with 35% of all tickets - and 50% of tickets for ties involving hosts Czech Republic - snapped up within 24 hours of going on sale this week.

The inaugural Billie Jean King Cup Finals will take place at the O2 Arena in Prague from November 1-6 2021, where 12 nations will battle it out to be crowned world champions. Tickets for the event went on sale on Wednesday 6 October, hot on the heels of confirmation of the squads heading to the Czech Republic next month.

There is still time to join the likes of former world No. 1s Victoria Azarenka, Angelique Kerber and Garbine Muguruza in Prague, along with reigning Roland Garros champion Barbora Krejcikova and US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez. Tokyo 2020 Olympic medallists Belinda Bencic, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Katerina Siniakova, Marketa Vondrousova and Viktorija Golubic will also be seeking further glory for their nations this season.

Also watching from the stands will be tennis legend Billie Jean King, bearing witness to the inaugural Finals of the competition that now bears her name - the first major global sporting competition to be named after a woman.

"I can't wait for the Finals," said King. "Martina Navratilova used to tell me that she would get me to Prague. It's unbelievable that I can really get there. I'm so excited.

"The Czech Republic is a great country and has organised major tennis events such as the Fed Cup and Davis Cup. It's great to be part of such a big tennis event. I'm really looking forward to the start of the tournament."

Tickets are available via Ticketmaster and Ticketportal, with all-day tickets for the six days of competition available from both vendors. Ticketmaster also has tickets for those ties being played on Court 1 on Monday 1 November and Tuesday 2 November, while Ticketportal is selling a four-day ticket for all Centre Court ties during the group stage.

President of the Czech Tennis Association, Ivo Kaderka, was joined in Prague this week by Sara Bejlek, Nikola Bartunkova and captain David Skoch, members of the nation's victorious Junior Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas team to celebrate their victory in Turkey and herald the impending arrival of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals at the end of the month, alongside the trophy.

"We are glad that this wonderful trophy for the BJK winners, which is now one pedestal higher, has already arrived in Prague," Kaderka said, before commenting on the strong start to ticket sales for the Finals. "We believe that world-class tennis players will be encouraged by the crowded O2 Arena."
