Sea Turtle Nesting Underway - Temporary Interruption to Full Beach Maintenance in South Beach Area

As part of the Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program (BCSTC), volunteers conduct daily beach surveying to cordon off areas where sea turtle nests are observed. Surveying is conducted along 24 miles of coastline from March 1st through October 31st.
The BCSTCP has notified the City of Hollywood's Department of Public Works of a restricted area from Bougainville Terrace south to 3101 S. Ocean Drive until further notice. As such, beach maintenance crews are temporarily prevented from conducting full maintenance in this southern portion of the beach. The beach remains open to the public. Visitors and residents in this southern section of Hollywood Beach should expect larger than normal accumulations of sargassum in the area.
