Dentons advises Union Investment with the acquisition of ‘De Puls’ in Amsterdam

September 17, 2021

Amsterdam-Global law firm Dentons advised Union Investment, the investment arm of the DZ Bank Group, on the acquisition of 'De Puls', a multipurpose real estate development in the Zuidas business district in Amsterdam.

The development is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2024 and comprises a 25-storey office tower, a 22-storey residential block and a connecting nine-storey mixed-use plinth. Developers VORM & EDGE have joined forces on the construction of this unique living and working environment. After completion, the building will consist of 200 apartments, 36,000 m² of office space, a cinema and various restaurants and retail units. The location benefits from excellent public transport links - with Schiphol international airport and Amsterdam city center just a few minutes away by metro.

'De Puls' is designed to operate as sustainably as possible, by limiting energy consumption, biodiversity and water. With over 7,000 m² of solar panels and numerous innovations related to sustainability, 'De Puls' is expected to achieve a BREEAM Outstanding rating and WELL Platinum certification.

The demand for affordable housing in Amsterdam is higher than ever. With 149 rent-controlled mid-segment apartments, 'De Puls' will contribute to the City of Amsterdam's ambition to realize 1,670 mid-rental homes annually.

Amsterdam-based partner Paul Wanders led Dentons' multi-competency legal team on the deal, with support from Femke de Wolf, Pieter van Delden, Martin Daverschot, Ines van Dijk, Bas Bruynsteen, Bas Legger, Valentijn Leijh, Marleen Spek, Bas van Schouwenburg, Anida Zuko, Başak Küçük, Justine van Lochem, Marc Kuijper, Pascalle van Overbeek, Bram Braat, Marc Elshof, Anouschka van de Graaf, Thom Caro and Alexander van Laaren.
