What's the difference between eucalyptus radiata and eucalyptus globulus

There are several types of eucalyptus, not to be confused with each other! In this article, we'll explain the difference between these two essential oils, how to recognize them, their properties and how to use them. All these tips are taken from the Galeo Essential Oils Guide written by two doctors of pharmacy, Mr and Mrs Moyon.

Eucalyptus globulus

How to recognize it?

The leaves of mature branches are elongated and leathery, with a shiny green sickle shape. Floral buds that reach maturity resemble a wooden urn, which explains the etymology of the genus name ("eu" meaning "good" in Greek, and "caluptos" meaning "covered"). Growth can be so rapid that its bark falls away in long strips, as though the tree were shedding.

Properties and traditional indications

This essential oil is specifically for the lower respiratory tract, for treating infectious bronchitis, whether bacterial or viral.

How to use it?

It can be applied to the skin for its powerful anti-infectious, expectorant and immunostimulant properties. The essential oil is diluted 50% in a vegetable oil and applied as an unction to the chest.
