Shortly after Kevin D., strategic account executive in Amsterdam, left ServiceNow in 2019, he realized how much he missed the company culture. During his three years away, Kevin thought a lot about where he wanted to be next and the kind of company he wanted to work for and grow with.
"I wanted to work in an organization where I could be myself but also be part of an organization that would give me trust and provide the opportunity to grow on a personal and business level," he says.
Kevin apprehensively anticipated his return, uncertain about the company's evolution, how the culture might have changed, and how he'd be viewed as a returning employee. "The feedback I received [on the culture] was positive, and those concerns I had on a personal level did not matter," he says.
During the pandemic, Marie H., senior solution sales executive, relocated from Dallas to Denver to be close to her family. Unfortunately, there were no open positions on her team in Denver at the time, leaving Marie unsure about the next step in her career.
Her manager suggested she work for another company and return to ServiceNow when a position opened. Marie did just that. Exactly one year later, she got her chance to rejoin ServiceNow in Denver and jumped at it.
"In hindsight, that worked out really well and prepared me so much for the role I'm in now," Marie says. "I'm thrilled to be back and to be working in creator workflows." She's also thrilled to be near her new grandson. "Having your personal life mesh so well with your work life really makes a difference," she says.
James B., director of customer workflow solution sales, agrees. As a new father, James cherishes a job that enables him to fulfill work commitments while actively participating in his family's life, including attending his son's swimming lessons.
After only six months away from ServiceNow, James realized he wanted to return. "I spent some time having to think about what was really important to me when it comes to a job: delivering aspirational outcomes for customers, creativity, and my work life," he says.
Rejoining ServiceNow marked a milestone in James' journey, aligning with his goal to become a sales leader. "I'm so proud to be leading the customer and industries workflows team here across Australia and New Zealand," he says.
"Now I know and recognize I'm on a path to really hone my new craft, grow my skill set, and be a great coach to my team, as well as become a high-performing leader."
Kevin encourages anyone considering a return to ServiceNow not to overthink it. "You are the architect of your own career," he advises. "Opportunities may present themselves, but it's up to you to seize them when they do."
ServiceNow's nurturing work environment champions work-life balance and empowers employees to excel in their careers while living their best lives. It's why employees want to stay and why they come back.
