Anchorage Assembly Fails to Adopt Mayor Bronson’s Resolution to Ship Sprung Structure Intended to Shelter Homeless Individuals in Anchorage this Summer

Anchorage, AK - During the assembly meeting tonight, Mayor Bronson presented to the Anchorage Assembly a resolution to ship the Sprung structure to Anchorage intended to shelter homeless individuals. The assembly failed to adopt the resolution to the regular agenda citing there is no emergency to warrant moving quickly on the transportation of this shelter structure.

The building was purchased by the municipality to be used as a shelter and navigation center in 2022. With nearly 900 people slated to hit the streets of Anchorage on June 1 when emergency cold weather shelter ends, the administration is leaving no stone unturned to find a sheltering solution for the city's most vulnerable citizens. Unfortunately, the Anchorage Assembly has denied every solution the administration has brought forward and has provided no alternative.
