Children and youth of Vantaa plan improvements to their local environment together with the city

For the 17th time, the Influential Day on May 8 will concentrate on the different residential areas of Vantaa and the reforms to be implemented there. The planning of the winners of the city-level participatory budgeting is done in working groups, ensuring that the projects to be implemented serve the youngest residents of Vantaa as well as possible as a result of co-development.

All residents of Vantaa were invited to brainstorm suggestions for the city-level participatory budgeting in November, and the voting took place in April. Children and youth were supported in the ideation process in early childhood education, basic education, and upper secondary education. All Vantaa residents over the age of 13 also had the opportunity to vote for their favorite proposals.

Dialogues focused on the future of the regions are also organized for children and youth, and the results will be presented to the city's leadership in a dialogue in the council hall. This dialogue will be streamed on the Vantaa channel and can be followed live.

The day is divided into two parts, with students from Vantaa's primary schools gathering in the morning and the council chamber dialogue starting at 10:45. The afternoon session's participants are representatives of upper secondary schools and the afternoon session starts at 14:45.

The impact of the Influential Day is ensured by reporting on the workgroup activities and future dialogues and sharing the results with the trustees and city officials who decide on the matters of the major regions.
