Partners for Pollution Prevention Presents Ambassador and Outstanding Partner Awards at Annual Conference

Partners for Pollution Prevention Presents Ambassador and Outstanding Partner Awards at Annual Conference

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Partners for Pollution Prevention Executive Committee awarded two distinguished members at its annual Pollution Prevention Conference and Tradeshow held on Sept. 20, 2023.

The Partners Ambassador Award honors an individual for their achievements in leadership. innovation, education, and dedication to pollution prevention. The Outstanding Partners for Pollution Prevention Award is given to a member for their accomplishments as reported on their annual Partners Recertification Report (APR).

Lauren Nielsen, owner of Terra Vitae Environmental Solutions, a two-member consulting firm in Trafalgar, Ind. was presented with the Partners Ambassador Award for her outstanding accomplishments in energy improvements at her facility and in her community, including:

  • installing solar array panels that provide enough energy to power the company's facility;
  • sending 100 kWh extra energy back to the local community each day from solar power generation;
  • converting the main vehicle fleet to all electric;
  • working with the local REMC to install a solar panel array for a community member and educating them on the monitoring software; and
  • encouraging her gas station clients to install EV charging stations at their locations.

SABIC, a petrochemicals manufacturing firm in Mount Vernon, Ind. received the Outstanding Partners for Pollution Prevention Award. In 2022, the company replaced a steam-generating boiler used to burn off flue gas during the coating process with a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) to reduce operating costs, increase steam production efficiency and decrease their carbon footprint, resulting in saving 23,425 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions per year. They continue research and development efforts in plastic recycling, energy reduction projects and byproduct reuse/recycling projects.
