Gilbert Town Council to Consider Ambulance Transportation Rates Increase Per Annual AZDHS Review

Gilbert, Ariz. - The Gilbert Town Council will consider the following Ambulance Transportation rates at the regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 16 at 6:30 PM at Gilbert Town Hall (50 E. Civic Center Dr., Gilbert, AZ 85296).

The Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) regulates the provision of ambulance transportation services, including billing rates, in the state. AZDHS performs an annual review of market and provider financial conditions to determine if changes in billing rates are warranted.

The recent evaluation from AZDHS allowed for a rate increase request of 3.95% for providers in the Phoenix region. The Gilbert Town Council will consider the option presented below with an effective start date of July 1, 2023:

Proposed Ambulance Billing Rate Increase*

  • Advanced Life Support (per transport): $1059.65

  • Basic Life Support (per transport): $944.32

  • Mileage (per mile): $18.34

  • Standby (per hour): N/A

Gilbert launched its ambulance service in 2019 with a goal of providing enhanced patient and employee safety, a cost-effective service model with lower rates for users, and long-term sustainability for this critical line of service that prioritizes the needs of Gilbert citizens.
