Celebrate spring at Homegrown in Hayward gardening and giveaway event

Homegrown in Hayward, a project of the Hayward People's Budget, will be celebrating spring with garden-themed activities and giveaways at Bidwell Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

The family-friendly event invites garden enthusiasts of all ages. Kids' activities include pot painting and wildflower seed activities. There will also be plant and compost giveaways while supplies last.

Gardening experts will share their advice for caring for new plants and growing vegetables at home during workshops from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is free and anyone can register to attend here.

The event is one of 12 projects funded through the Hayward People's Budget, a pilot program initiated in 2021 through which community members were invited to submit and then vote on proposals for increasing community connections in their neighborhoods.
