Media Advisory: City of San José Welcomes Lord Mayor of Dublin, Ireland and Delegation

What: The City of San José will welcome the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Ireland, Daithi de Roiste and a Dublin City Council delegation with a flag raising ceremony to celebrate the 38-year San José Dublin sister city relationship.
When: Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 12 p.m.
Where: City Hall Plaza
200 E. Santa Clara Street
Background: The visit by Lord Mayor Daithi de Roiste and the Dublin City Council delegation will take place February 26 - 29 and will serve as an opportunity to learn and engage in discussions about the City's services and programs related to housing, human resources, arts and culture, climate and energy, and economic development.

The Flag Raising Ceremony of the Irish and Dublin flags will include remarks by San José Mayor Matt Mahan, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, and Ireland Consul General Micheal Smith. Members of the San José City Council will also attend.

The San José Dublin Sister City program is one of eight sister city affiliations that San José has established with cities from across the globe. The San José Dublin sister city relationship was initiated in 1986 by then Mayor of San José, Tom McEnery, and former Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, then Lord Mayor of Dublin, Ireland.
