The Les Aspin Center for Government will honor Diane Foley's work through the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation and the release of her new book, "American Mother," on Tuesday, April 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Washington, D.C.

The book tells Foley's story about her son, Jim Foley, a 1996 graduate of Marquette who was murdered in Syria while working as a freelance journalist. On the 10th anniversary of Jim's death, Dr. Paul Nolette welcomes guests and friends of Marquette and Jim to gather in his memory and connect at the Les Aspin Center for Government, Marquette's home in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Sarah Feldner, dean of the Diederich College of Communication, will moderate a brief discussion with Diane Foley about her book, the work of the foundation and its relationship to Marquette's initiatives. The conversation will center around journalism safety and hostage negotiation, inspired by Jim Foley.

RSVP online before Friday, April 26.
