AGA Statement Regarding Supreme Court Ruling in West Virginia v. EPA

News ReleaseJune 30, 2022

Washington, D.C. - American Gas Association (AGA) President and CEO Karen Harbert made the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in West Virginia v. the Environmental Protection Agency:

"The natural gas industry has consistently delivered on its promise to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while at the same time delivering safe, reliable and clean energy to the 187 million Americans who depend on our industry every day. Natural gas utilities did not wait for government mandates to drive progress, and with today's ruling we are committed to stay the course. Innovation and technology produce results, not outsized government regulation. This industry has ambitious environmental goals and we have proven, year over year, that we provide solutions for reducing emissions while ensuring Americans have the essential energy they need. That is our commitment today and into the future as we continue to lead our nation in achieving our energy and environmental goals.

"The natural gas industry is reviewing this order and will continue to work with policymakers at all levels to further reduce emissions and deliver safe, clean and affordable energy to the millions of Americans who rely on it every day."
