SAN ANTONIO (May 17, 2021) - Today, District 3 staff, along with several furry friends, helped celebrate a new Dog Park at Kingsborough. This park project was funded by additional capital project dollars to expand on the work of the voter-approved 2017-2022 Bond Project - the largest five-year bond program in San Antonio's history. Kingsborough is now home to two dedicated dog park spaces and offers the community a place to play, exercise and connect with the outdoors.
'Many in the District 3 community asked for a dog park, and we listened! Kingsborough Dog Park is another amenity improvement that we worked hard to bring to District 3. When I came onto council in 2013, we did not have dog parks in District 3. Now, we can proudly say we have built two in response to our community requests. I have been an advocate for pets my entire term and insist on the need for more recreational parks such as this in the Southside for the safety of our residents and pets. We would like to thank our community supporters and our Public Works and Parks & Recreation Departments for their hard work on this park project.'
The Kingsborough Dog Park was budget was $335,026 and offers agility equipment, tables and benches for small group gatherings, Mutt Mitts stations, shade canopies and much more. Neighborhood parks are vital to communities. They offer an accessible place to enjoy the outdoors and improve overall quality of life for all.
