PRESS RELEASE BY THE MINISTRY FOR FOREIGN AND EUROPEAN AFFAIRS AND TRADE: The first Maltese and Moroccan Business Forum

For the first time, in Rabat, Morocco, the first edition of the Maltese and Moroccan Business Forum is being organised by Trade Malta. During his opening speech, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg reiterated how Malta and North Africa have a lot in common and this helps for more business collaboration and above all expansion between the two continents.

Minister for Trade Ian Borg said that Malta was one of the first European countries of the European Union with a partnership strategy with Africa, including the Maghreb region. It was outlined how, through this strategy, Malta had the opportunity to redefine its relationship with this continent.

"Malta recognises the strategic importance of Morocco and the existing economic and political stability. It was for this reason that together with Trade Malta, as a government, we felt the need to continue pushing more Maltese businesses to roam in this country. Our goal is to create new business partnerships while strengthening the present ones," said Minister Borg.

It was said that in recent years Malta's economy has grown at a rapid rate and furthermore, that the Maltese government's aim is to continue seeing local industries grow.

The Maltese trade delegation is composed of more than 30 people from various sectors.
