"The achievement was possible solely due to the support of my supervisors at both Chalmers and Gotmic AB throughout the research, writing, and preparation for the conference presentation," says Göksu Kaval, industrial doctoral student at MEL at MC2, as he was awarded for best student paper at INMmiC 2023.

2023 year's edition of the International Workshop on Integrated Nonlinear Microwave and Millimeter-wave Circuits (INMmiC) took place in Aveiro, Portugal, on November 10th. During the event, the award for best student paper 2023 was handed out, and this year the prestigious award went to Göksu Kaval, industrial PhD student at the Microwave Electronics Laboratory at MC2.

"It is a pleasant feeling to see that our work was presented to a scientific community and that it is not only understood but also appreciated," says Göksu Kaval.

Göksu, who is an industrial PhD student from Gotmic AB, is being awarded for his paper "Enhancement of Power-Added Efficiency in GaAs Power Amplifiers by Dynamic Gate Biasing". In his research, Göksu investigates ways to increase the energy efficiency of notoriously inefficient millimeter-wave power amplifiers, which play an integral role in the backhauling solutions required to provide global mobile internet broadband coverage. Co-authors in the study are Gregor Lasser, Marcus Gavell and Christian Fager, all active at MEL.

"The achievement was possible solely due to the support of my supervisors at both Chalmers and Gotmic AB throughout the research, writing, and preparation for the conference presentation. Additionally, the proposed solutions in our work resonated well with the challenges in millimeter-wave telecommunications," says Göksu.
