Play time resumes at Bill Grayden

Installation of the new play space at Bill Grayden Reserve is now complete, with families already enjoying the new equipment and improved landscaping at the reserve.

The play space design was selected following a community consultation process which commenced in November 2022 and it now boasts a tunnel slide, rock climbing wall, swings and accessible rocker, sand pit and sand play table. New pathways improve accessibility for all.

Landscaping works included the removal of non-native vegetation and dead trees adjacent to Thelma Street, and turf removal to facilitate additional tree planting. The planting of 240 new WA native trees is expected to take place in May, depending on rainfall.

The City will also be creating a hydro-zone; a landscaped area where vegetation with similar water requirements is grouped together to enable more efficient and responsible use of irrigation water.

To facilitate the hydro-zone, mulch will be installed from 22 April for 10 working days. Partial road closures will be in place and works will take place between 9am-2.30pm to minimise disruption at peak times.

The City would like to thank everyone who took part in the community consultation.

This project is part of the City's Play Space Plan 2022.
