Members of Frostburg State University's chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) recently participated in a collegiate student conference and was successful in securing outstanding chapter awards in three of the seven categories for their work in Professional Development, Fundraising and Chapter Planning.

"This is a huge win, perhaps the most significant one in my tenure of 14 years as the student organization advisor," said Dr. Lilly Ye, FSU's AMA chapter advisor. "Among over 320 active chapters nationwide, FSU distinguished itself by clinching top honors in three pivotal categories, a rare attainment for inaugural chapters." Ye continued, "Particularly noteworthy is our triumph in the Professional Development category, the most demanding and critical category."

In the Professional Development category, FSU's team organized 13 workshops and professional development events that successfully resulted in networking opportunities, job placements and internships for chapter members.

FSU raised more than $1,000 and support from more than 20 local business in a two-day span with T-shirt sponsorship opportunities, an accomplishment that highlights the group's dedication to fundraising. Finally, the chapter's planning and implementation before the competition allowed them to surpass their beginning of the year goals that aligned with the group's vision.

"Comprising of dedicated members, our group has diligently cultivated this chapter over the past year, fostering invaluable experiential learning opportunities for students," said chapter president, Daniel Baiyeshea. "The recent conference served as a platform for networking with peers, garnering wisdom from seasoned industry experts and immersing participants in the job market through engagement with the job fair. With a steadfast commitment to portraying Frostburg positively and expanding our influence beyond the confines of Allegany County, our aim is to project a compelling representation of the University to broader audiences."

"As we continue our pursuit of excellence and strive to unite the FSU community through our shared passion for marketing, we remain deeply grateful for all of the support we received on this journey," said Ye.
