Allegany man arrested for DWI in Friendship

On August 18, 2019, SP Amity Troopers arrested James S. Sloane, 58, of Allegany, NY for Driving While Intoxicated, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.

During a traffic stop on Interstate 86 in the town of Friendship, Sloane was exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication. Troopers determined he had been operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Expired prescription pills and marijuana were also found in Sloane's vehicle. Sloane was then arrested and transported to SP Amity, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.13% BAC.

Sloane was arraigned in Friendship Town Court, where he was remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail or $6,000 bond. He is due to reappear in that court at a later date.
