Daines Talks Twitter Censorship as well as Biden and Senate Democrats’ Woke Energy Policies on Fox Business’ Varney & Co

  • February 8, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Senator Steve Daines appeared on Fox Business' Varney & Co today to talk about being censored on Twitter and react to President Biden's comments on energy policy at the State of the Union Address last night.

Watch the interview HERE.

Daines on Twitter Censorship

"We were notified, without out any prior warning that we're going to have our Twitter account shut down and censored Monday night about 11 p.m. By the way, I put that picture up on my profile back in early January and without any warning, we were shut down on Monday night. In fact, the message we got and I'm reading it from the Twitter policy that was sent to us, 'This violates our rules against graphic violence or adult content.' I'd ask viewers to take a look at that picture. Does that violate those kinds of rules? It is absurd. And I've got to thank Elon Musk, who reached out to me yesterday and said, 'I'm going to reinstate your account, and I'm also going to work to change the policies at Twitter.' They're censoring what I would call Middle America, American values and traditions. Our family has gone antelope hunting in eastern Montana for over 20 years. In fact, my kids took that picture. This is a family tradition. And when you have these San Francisco elites that want to impose their values on the rest of the world, I just kindly request, why don't you also, in the spirit of inclusiveness and diversity, accept our Montana values, which we pass on from generation to generation."

Daines on President Biden and Senate Democrats' Anti-Energy Agenda

"President Biden and the Senate Democrats are living in a green hallucination. Here are the facts. Over the course of the next 25 years, global energy demand is going to increase by 50 percent. We will need half again as much energy as needed today as we think about the future of our country and the world.

"When President Biden said we'll be done with oil intent years, that sends, first of all, a very chilling message to the capital markets because these investments need to last for certainly longer than ten years. And so, he's only continued to contribute to the energy crisis. He shuts down the Keystone Pipeline day one that comes into Montana, he relies on draining the strategic petroleum reserve and then he's out pleading with Iran and Venezuela for more oil, when he should be looking right back at American, saying, we have a 30 or 40 year vision with an all the above energy portfolio which includes oil and natural gas. That's the right answer. The American people see it, and they saw absurdity of President Biden's comment last night."
