Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira will host his Panamanian counterpart, Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez, on September 4. The Panamanian delegation will include the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Julio Moltó, and the Minister of Agricultural Development, Roberto Linares.
The foreign ministers will discuss topics on the economic agenda, such as Panama's closer ties with MERCOSUR and the negotiation of a bilateral investment facilitation agreement. There will also be discussions on Latin American integration and the coordination of positions in regional and multilateral forums.
In 2024, Brazil and Panama celebrate 120 years of diplomatic relations. Panama is Brazil's main trading partner in Central America. Last year, bilateral trade reached a record high of USD 963 million.
