Ogden City Mayor Ben Nadolski has announced his appointment of Jared Johnson as Director of Community and Economic Development for Ogden City. The selection is pending approval of Ogden City Council during Advice and Consent, which will take place in Ogden City Council Chambers on April 9th.

Johnson has been Acting Director of Community and Economic Development (CED) since January of this year. Prior to that, Johnson was the Deputy Director of CED where he oversaw the return of commercial air service to Ogden Airport, moved major development projects forward, and is currently managing the WonderBlock development. Johnson has also supervised staff and programs to ensure organizational success. Before his term as Deputy Director began in August of 2022, Johnson was the Building Services Manager being hired to Ogden in July of 2015.

"Jared is the right person at the right time to lead the Community and Economic Development team into the future," said Mayor Ben Nadolski. "His decades of experience coupled with his integrity, leadership abilities, and thoughtful problem-solving skills make him the prime candidate for this administration. He's a collaborative team player for both internal staff and external partners. He continues to move projects forward, forging partnerships and alliances with invested stakeholders. Jared will be an integral part of our success."

"My extensive background in large construction projects has enabled me to gain the experience necessary to lead this highly critical city department," said Johnson. "I take great pride in my ability to form and strengthen relationships both internally and externally. I have been able to overcome hurdles and gather support by engaging with others, including various internal city departments, while progressing through development challenges. I look forward to leading a team where employees feel empowered to contribute their unique perspectives to reach our collective goals."

Johnson was the Community Development Director for Brigham City before his tenure with Ogden City. During his time, he played a key role in successfully bringing Proctor and Gamble operations to Box Elder County and was instrumental in the site work leading to the creation of Brigham's Business Park. Johnson attended Weber State University, as well as Utah State University, and holds numerous Building Inspector Certifications in the State of Utah.
