The Georgia College & State University CARE Team is a collaborative group of professionals from across campus, responsible for identifying, assessing and responding to concerns and disruptive behaviors. We are committed to promoting the safety, success and well-being of the GCSU community by providing comprehensive support and intervention services. Whether a student is experiencing academic challenges, personal struggles or other difficulties, the CARE Team is here to provide coordinated care and support.

How Can You Engage with the CARE Team?

1. Refer students: If you encounter a student who may be struggling with personal, emotional or academic issues, please consider referring them to the CARE Team. Referrals can be made through our confidential online form, https://care.gcsu.edu. Your observations and concerns are vital in helping us provide timely support to students in need. Please note, we often send communications from our electronic recordkeeping system, Maxient. You may find it helpful to add [email protected] to your saved contacts.
   
2. Consult with us: If you are unsure about a situation involving a student, the CARE Team is available for consultations. We are here to assist you in determining the best course of action for the well-being of the student. You may email [email protected] or contact either CARE Team Co-chair, Amy Whatley at (478) 445-7535 and/or Desaree Murden at (478) 445-2561.
   
3. Stay informed: We will host informational sessions to further introduce the CARE Team and our processes. These sessions will provide an opportunity to learn more about how we can work together to support our students. Stay tuned for upcoming dates and times. Or contact us directly if you would like us to speak at your department/staff meetings.

The well-being of our students is a shared responsibility. By working together, we can create a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters student success. The CARE Team is here to assist you in this important work, and we value your partnership.

Faculty and staff well-being is equally important. Members of the campus community can submit a CARE referral for a colleague at any time using the same online form, https://care.gcsu.edu. These will be directed to Human Resources.
