From the Network: Older Adults’ Equity Collaborative Resource Library

Developed through an ACL grant, the new Older Adults' Equity Collaborative (OAEC) Resource Library collects digital materials from OAEC member organizations to provide tools, guidance, and promising practices to the aging services network, providers serving diverse communities, and older adults and family caregivers. The library offers resources on a variety of topics, including:

• Social isolation and mental health
• Alzheimer's/dementia
• Disability
• Caregiving
• Retirement income and security
• Emergency planning

The OAEC is made up of five ACL-funded national Minority Aging Technical Assistance and Resource Centers (TARCs), which are housed in the following organizations:

• SAGE
• National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, Inc.
• National Indian Council on Aging, Inc.
• MHP Salud
• National Asian Pacific Center on Aging

The OAEC promotes collaboration among minority aging organizations and other ACL-funded resource centers that work with older adults and caregivers. The New York Academy of Medicine's Center for Healthy Agingis the OAEC coordinating center and facilitated the development of its resource library.

In April 2021, the OAEC presented recommendations to the RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Councilon how a national family caregiving strategy can work toward access and equity in aging services programs. The presentation included an analysis of cross-cutting themes affecting older adults and their caregivers, including intersectional, cultural, linguistic, and financial considerations.
