Bulgartransgaz EAD and BOTAŞ A.Ş signed an interconnection agreement

The Bulgarian gas transmission operator Bulgartransgaz EAD and the operator of the gas transmission system of the Republic of Turkey BOTAŞ A.Ş signed an operational interconnection agreement for IP Strandzha/Malkoclar.

Signing of that document comes as a result of the long-term joint efforts of both operators' teams. The agreement specifies the technical conditions, including the minimum transmission pressure and natural gas quality characteristics, as well as the applicable procedures on both sides of IP Strandzha/Malkoclar.

Based on the conditions agreed in the document, the technical capacity of IP Strandzha/Malkoclar in Turkey-Bulgaria direction in Bulgartransgaz EAD gas transmission network is set at 117,677,153 kWh/d, and in Bulgaria-Turkey direction - 504,138,541 kWh/d.

The conclusion of an interconnection agreement of the gas transmission networks of Bulgaria and Turkey at IP Strandzha/Malkoclar is of key importance for diversification of natural gas sources not only for Bulgaria, but also for the regional and European gas markets. Via Turkey's gas transmission network, access is provided to natural gas from local fields, Azerbaijan, Iran and the global LNG market through Turkey's regasification terminals.

The signature of this interconnection agreement strengthens the leading role of the Bulgarian gas transmission operator in achieving market integration, diversification and security of natural gas supplies in the region and in Europe.

Matching of the nominations and allocation of the transported quantities will be carried out according to the Agreement, and information about the procedures concerning users at that point is published on Bulgartransgaz EAD website in section CUSTOMER ZONE -> CONDITIONS FOR USE OF NETWORK SERVICES.
