RMIT expert available for comment on Google's new security measure

An expert from RMIT is available to talk to media about Google's new two-factor authentication (2FA) process, which aims to provide more security to online users.

Topics: cyber security, online safety

Professor Matthew Warren

"Google's move to update how its two-factor authentication system works is a significant announcement.

"This type of security system is key in securing users online, as highlighted by the federal government's media campaign for Australian users.

"There has been some complexity in two-factor authentication but this update by Google will simplify the experience.

"All users should have strong passwords and two-factor authentication as a minimum or risk having their systems hacked."

Professor Matthew Warren is director of the RMIT University Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation. He is an expert in cyber security and computer ethics.
