Notice of resignation of Juvenile Court Judge Matthew C. Leipold

Juvenile Court Judge Matthew G. Leipold submitted his resignation notice last week to Northeastern Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Jason J. Deal, with an anticipated departure date of May 31, 2024. Judge Leipold was appointed to the Juvenile Court bench in March 2022.

"This job has been a wonderful experience for me, and I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Hall and Dawson Counties," stated Judge Leipold.

"Judge Leipold has done a great job for our circuit," states Chief Judge Deal. "We appreciate his dedication to public service in both the Public Defender's Office and the Juvenile Court for the last ten years. With a growing family, we understand the need to pursue a more lucrative career in the private sector. We will miss his expertise and legal acumen on the bench but wish him well in his endeavors on the other side of the bench."

In accordance with OCGA § 15-11-50, the Superior Court judges of the Northeastern Circuit will appoint a new, full-time judge for a 4-year term to begin August 1, 2024.
