If the thought of all that footfall fare has you worried about your diet, check out these tips in how to eat healthy while watching football.
We know that while delicious, all that delicious football food takes a toll on the waistline. But, did you know you can still enjoy the food and watch your waistline at the same time? Here's how.
Watch Portion Size
This is one of the hardest struggles for many of us, but it really isn't that hard to do.
First, before you turn the game on or head to a watch party, drink a few glasses of water and fill up on some healthy veggies. This way, you won't be tempted to eat a whole bowl of chips before half time.
Then, when you get to the party, go ahead and have what you'd like. But, instead of 30 chips and guacamole piled high, try about 10 chips and a tablespoon of guac. The same holds true for other food items. For example, have two or three wings instead of 10.
When making choices, be sure to choose wisely. Always opt for the leanest meat, and when topping your burgers and dogs, keep your waistline in mind.
Consider ditching the bun. Or, if you're loading your hot dog with chili, use about half as much.
Cut the Alcohol Portion
We all know that beer and football go hand in hand, but even light beer in excess has too many calories.
If possible, cut out the alcohol altogether if you're watching calories. If you must, have one beer and make it light. Alternative, opt for wine if it's offered. Not only is wine lower calorie, but it's also better for you.
Soak in the Hot Tub
You can also take a break from the game (or continue to watch it outside if there's a television) and soak in the hot tub. This is not only relaxing and good for you, but it gets you away from the temptation of non-stop football watching eating!
