Vladimir Putin had telephone conversations with heads of Kurgan and Tyumen regions

The President discussed the flood situation with Kurgan Region Governor Vadim Shumkov Shumkov VadimGovernor of Kurgan Regionand Tyumen Region Governor Alexander Moor Moor AlexanderGovernor of Tyumen Region, focusing on the possible scenarios of the expected sharp rise in flood waters.

It was stressed that flooding was inevitable as local water control structures had to discharge more water due to the worst flood in the past 100 years.

The need to take proactive measures to provide assistance to people and possibly evacuate the population was noted. The President continues to receive regular updates from the sites of natural anomalies.

Vladimir Putin instructed the Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev Kolokoltsev VladimirInterior Ministerto ensure the adoption of necessary measures to maintain law and order and protect the property of citizens in the areas that are already in the flood zone as well as in the regions where flooding is expected within the next few days.
