James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor is pleased to announce a special holiday-themed program at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 9. "A Winter Evening at Lawnfield" will be held in the site's visitor center auditorium. Tickets are required and are now on sale for $20 at https://2023winteratlawnfield.eventbrite.com.

Join First Lady Lucretia Rudolph Garfield (portrayed by Debbie Weinkamer) for an intimate evening as she reminisces about the Garfield family's most cherished winter and holiday memories and traditions.

The event will include live music, light refreshments, and a beautiful evening tour of the Garfield home. This event is supported and assisted by The James A. Garfield Alliance, a non-profit partner of James A. Garfield National Historic Site. Additional support is provided by The Garfield Trail of Ohio.

"We're excited to host this program again for the holidays," said Site Manager Todd Arrington. "This time of year is a favorite for many, and the Garfield property-nicknamed 'Lawnfield' during Garfield's 1880 presidential campaign-is beautiful in this late fall/early winter period."

James A. Garfield National Historic Site is located at 8095 Mentor Avenue (U.S. 20) in Mentor, Ohio, approximately 25 miles east of Cleveland. The site offers guided tours of the Garfield home, museum exhibits, a biographical film, walking paths, two outdoor cell phone tours, and dozens of annual special events. The National Park Service completely restored the house in the late 1990s, making it one of the most impressive presidential homes preserved for the public.
