The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomes the decision taken by the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to recognize the State of Palestine and considers it a significant step, consistent with the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, at a time when all Palestinians are facing systematic ethnic cleansing, aimed at obliterating their existence and cause by the Occupying Power, Israel.
The Ministry appreciates the positions of all Caribbean States and their noble endeavor to push towards achieving justice and freedom for the Palestinian people. It also commends their actual support for the principles of the two-state solution, starting with the recognition of two states, as all of these states have now recognized the State of Palestine and are working towards establish diplomatic relations with it on the basis of mutual respect and recognition.
The Ministry calls on the remaining countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to join the Caribbean States in doing so; and to adhere to the popular will and international legitimacy in bringing justice to the Palestinian people, who deserve to live in dignity and freedom, as all other peoples of the world.
