Wolf Administration: More than $19 Million Awarded to Community Learning Centers

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) today announced awards totaling more than $19 million for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Cohort 11 grant. These awards will go to nine school districts, three intermediate units, eight charter schools, two institutions of higher education, and 22 community-based organizations.

"The 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant program helps provide students with a broad range of services and resources that will help them to achieve more throughout their schooling," said Acting Secretary of Education Eric Hagarty. "Without this grant, students could miss out on some of the important opportunities and services that help them reach for success during their academic careers."

The 21st CCLC provides opportunities to low-income areas struggling to support students in their academic achievements. These grants will help establish and expand community learning centers, and provide academic enrichment, youth development, and literacy programs. Funds provide students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools with additional services to meet state and local standards.
