Baton Rouge, LA - September 9, 2024 - Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and all City-Parish officials are in constant contact with the National Weather Service, along with local and state officials as preparations are made for the incoming Tropical Storm Francine.
Mayor-President Broome wants all residents to begin making preparations and stay updated with the latest information. "This storm is expected to bring threats of heavy rain, gusty to damaging winds, and possibly a few tornadoes. I want to encourage everyone to make preparations now, ensure you have a disaster supply kit ready, make a plan with all members of your household, and use the Buddy System to ensure your neighbors and friends are Red Stick Ready as well."
City-Parish officials are actively clearing storm basins, replenishing sand locations, and stand ready to respond to our community. Officials have pre-positioned sand and sandbags at 8 locations across the parish. *Residents should bring their own shovels to fill the sandbags.
