Dr Orlic in Official Visit to Slovenia Meets with Mayor of Ljubljana

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic, currently in official bilateral visit to the Republic of Slovenia, met with the Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Jankovic.

In the course of the meeting, Dr Orlic outlined the accelerated development of Belgrade and all the important projects implemented in the Serbian capital, opining that Ljubljana is an excellent example of progress that others should follow. He praised the results achieved by Mayor Jankovic during his mandate. "Ljubljana is one of the cleanest cities and we can learn a lot from the Slovenian capital. I am sure that we can apply these examples in our cities as well. Belgrade has already changed significantly, which is perhaps best seen in the example of Belgrade Waterfront. As you also said, Mr Jankovic, such a project required courage and vision, and President Vucic had them. Rest assured that this courage and vision of progress, continue with historic changes for both Belgrade and Serbia," said the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The National Assembly Speaker and Mayor Jankovic expressed hope that Belgrade and Ljubljana, which are twinned cities, will establish even stronger cooperation in the future. Dr Orlic took the opportunity to express his satisfaction with the continuity Mayor Jankovic achieves in his contacts with officials from Serbia. "Your enormous contribution to the mutual rapprochement of Ljubljana and Belgrade, as well as Slovenia and Serbia, and everything you have done, is most convincingly expressed by the Order of Sretenje awarded to you by the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, for your patriotic and humanitarian work. And you, Mr Jankovic, are the first person in Slovenia to receive this important award," said Dr Orlic.

The Mayor of Ljubljana praised all of Republic of Serbia's achievements under the leadership of President Aleksandar Vucic, primarily in the areas of infrastructure and economy. He pointed out that the cooperation between the two capitals is at an extremely high level and can as such serve as an example for everyone in the world. "We have shown that, when there is good will, there are no borders for cooperation and, in that regard, I want the Republic of Serbia to become a member of the European Union as soon as possible, so that there be no formal borders anymore," said Jankovic.
