On August 18th, Salem voter James Aiken got a surprise while checking his mailbox. He received an official legislative mailing from Republican State Representative Raquel Moore-Green. It was a surprise because Moore-Green does not represent Aiken in the state legislature. Moore-Green represents House District 19. Aiken resides within House District 20, represented by Rep. Paul Evans.

Moore-Green, however, is currently running for Senate District 10 which includes Aiken's home address. On September 15th, Mr. Aiken filed a complaint with the Secretary of State's Elections Division, which you will find here.

"My allegation is that she is using the official state mailing system to mis-represent herself as my state representative to build name recognition as she runs for the State Senate seat held by Deb Patterson." said Mr. Aiken, "I am represented by Paul Evans, and I believe this was an intentional act, that both she and the Republican party will claim to be an accident."

Democratic Party of Oregon, Chair KC Hanson added, "Raquel Moore-Green was caught red-handed illegally using taxpayer resources. This is an open and shut case where Moore-Green used officially authorized constituent mail to benefit her political campaign. We look forward to hearing about next steps from the Elections Division."
