UW Oshkosh student radio content earns seven regional awards of excellence

University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Radio TV Film students brought home seven Eric Sevareid Awards from the annual conference of the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association April 6-7 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
All the work recognized was produced for and aired on 90.3 WRST-FM.
The Eric Sevareid Awards honor excellence in student and professional broadcast journalism across six states.
UWO RTF students received three first place awards in the categories of Talk/Public Affairs, Evening Newscast, Sportscast/Program; and four awards of merit in categories of Hard Feature [2] and Sportscast/Program [2].

Adding the awards to the 13, including six first place awards, won in February at the annual Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Seminar, it's been a good spring for WRST, said Andrew Smock, associate professor and chair of the UWO Radio TV Film department.
