LUCE Awards 2024

Eurogas is a proud advocate of gender equality in the workplace, which is why we welcome the Lights on Women initiative. Having more women in the energy sector will guarantee a Just Transition to a carbon neutral future and net zero energy sources.

This project was born during training courses at the Florence School of Regulation in 2017 when it was noticed that most of the speakers and panellists were men. Though this was probably due to tradition in events organization, rather than intentional bias, the observation motivated them to emphasise women working in energy. Precisely the action of shining a spotlight on women experts inspired the project's name, which was growing in popularity thanks to interviews and blog articles. Soon after, they were able to launch a scholarship, which has so far been granted to more than 50 women professionals. This idea was born from a bottom-up initiative ideated for women by women.

Having worked for some years with the aim of giving prominence to talented women, Energybase was launched in 2021 to facilitate recruiters. This database allowed them to search for around 300 active profiles from a range of many different roles, from engineers to researchers. In this way, women who registered would have the chance to boost their reach and advertise their abilities.

Another compelling event regards the annual LUCE Awards. The idea behind these awards came from Landwärme and was immediately supported by the Florence School of Regulation to become reality. Having now just launched a call for the second edition, these prizes recognise Legacy Women who have spent more than 15 years of experience in their field. Symbolically held on 16 May, the International Day of Light, this celebration also serves as a crossroad for many sector professionals.

In 2021 Edison also joined to support the LUCE Awards, along with Eurogas member Landwärme. These initiatives provide a network and create opportunities for women to support other women - and most importantly, they give women the chance to find their voice and pass it along.

The 2024 edition of the LUCE Awards will be held on 16 May at 14:30. Learn more and register here.
