Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia Applauds the Biden-Harris Administration Backing Major Houston Transportation Project

Houston, Texas - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia applauds the Biden-Harris Administration backing $150 million in FY24 funding for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County's (METRO) University Corridor Bus Rapid Transit Project. These funds will be possible through the Fiscal Year 2024 Annual Report on Funding Recommendations accompanied by President Biden's Budget requests.

"I will continue to work with METRO to improve transit access for Houstonians who depend on it daily," said Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia. "The University Line will connect many neighborhoods with Houston's world-class colleges and universities, making education and transit access easier than ever. Not only will these funds ease our transit access, but they will create good-paying jobs and reduce emissions. I thank the Federal Transit Administration for thinking of Houston, and I look forward to watching the positive impact this brings to Houston METRO and residents."

METRO's University Corridor Bus Rapid Transit Project will traverse Houston in dedicated transit-only lanes for the entire route, improving transit connections to activity centers and other services.
