Proofpoint Becomes Partner in the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has approved Proofpoint for membership in the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC), a public-private cybersecurity initiative whose role is to improve cyber defense through collaboration among government agencies and the private sector.

Formed in 2021, JCDC offers a unique opportunity for partners and stakeholders to elevate national security posture proactively and defend critical functions against cyber intrusions.

In the modern interconnected world, no organization can solve cybersecurity challenges in a vacuum. Participation with JCDC will facilitate consistent collaboration between Proofpoint and a range of U.S. government agencies, including military, intelligence, and law enforcement.

The engagement with JCDC makes Proofpoint part of a holistic and synchronized public-private effort to boost threat prevention, detection, and response. JCDC brings together not only federal entities such as the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Cyber Command, and the National Security Agency, but also a host of cybersecurity companies, infrastructure operators, and others to discuss current threat trends, activities, and mitigation best practices.

Additionally, to ensure fast information dissemination, JCDC collaborates with more than a hundred international cyber defense organizations (known as CERTs) and with other information-sharing groups such as Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs) representing specific sectors.

"Public-private partnerships are a powerful tool for addressing today's complex cybersecurity problems. Our partnership with JCDC comes at a critical time when staying ahead of rapidly evolving threats is a challenge that organizations simply cannot solve on their own," said Ryan Kalember, executive vice president of cybersecurity strategy for Proofpoint. "One of our goals at Proofpoint is to equip security professionals with the insights and knowledge that make them successful in their daily work. Partnering with CISA will further strengthen our ability to deliver timely information so that organizations remain secure."

One of the main benefits of the membership is the ability to incorporate preliminary threat data as well as subsequent findings into Proofpoint's threat intelligence offerings and investigations methods. This information sharing will result in the ability to deploy protection faster and better.

Through this partnership, JCDC and Proofpoint will share information with each other about the current and emerging threat landscape. CISA provides timely information related to current security vulnerabilities, exploits, and other cyber issues, as well as best practices for mitigation. Proofpoint, in turn, has a world-class threat research team that brings unique insights into the threat landscape, while its email and network telemetry provide unparalleled visibility into threats.

This bi-lateral information sharing is critical in today's environment, where threats are continuously evolving at a fast pace. As a cybersecurity leader whose mission is to protect people and defend data, Proofpoint must constantly innovate and evolve to safeguard customers. Sharing threat intelligence with JCDC enables both Proofpoint, JCDC, and CISA to stay ahead of adversaries and better protect organizations with actionable insights.
