Over €2.2M for the Furniture & Works of Art Sale

On 13th and 14th December, the Furniture & Works of Art department held its final sales session of the year, auctioning more than 400 lots from prestigious historic provenances. The sales totalled €2,251,556, with 84% of lots sold, the second-highest result for the department since its creation.

With Paris presenting a busy schedule of events for the 18th-century market, French and international connoisseurs as well as major collectors were delighted by the selection of works presented in the sales illustrating a panorama of the classical decorative arts from the Haute Époque to the end of the 19th century. A rare Louis XVI commode delivered to the Controller General in Versailles, Jean François Joly de Fleury de Lavalette, fetched €144,320 while an important Regency console table sold for €98,400.
