The presidents of the Federal Supreme Court, Luís Roberto Barroso, and the German Constitutional Court, Judge Stephan Harbarth, met on Monday (9) in Frankfurt, Germany, to discuss the impact of technology on the global justice system. They discussed the benefits and challenges of topics such as artificial intelligence and how the law can deal with new technologies.
Earlier in the day, Barroso and Harbarth took part in the opening of the International High School Seminar "Digitalization and Democracy: A Brazil-Europe Dialogue", at the University of Frankfurt.
In his speech, Barroso spoke about digitalization and democracy, and how technology has impacted the democratic recession in many parts of the world.
Justices Gilmar Mendes and Dias Toffoli also took part in panel discussions at the event.
