Earth Day is Monday, April 22 and the City of Colorado Springs is gearing up for a series of events and initiatives to celebrate and promote environmental conservation. From community clean-ups to educational workshops, residents and visitors will have several free opportunities to celebrate Earth Day. More information on each event is outlined below.

Three Parks in Three Days

The third annual Three Parks in Three Days is a clean-up event organized by the Friends of Peregrine Parks & Open Spaces, the Guardians of Palmer Park and the Friends of Ute Valley Park. This year, volunteers will perform various forms of trail work, including revegetation, cleaning of trail corridors and closing down social trails in Blodgett Open Space (Friday, April 19), Palmer Park (Saturday, April 20) and Ute Valley Park (Sunday, April 21). All events are from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

27th Annual Garden of the Gods Earth Day Celebration

The 27th Annual Garden of the Gods Earth Day Celebration is Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center (1805 N 30th St.). This free, annual event aims to celebrate Earth Day by providing family fun and education about the environment through green thinking and living. It will feature interactive activities for attendees of all ages, including live demonstrations, educational booths, crafts and live animal experiences.

Free parking is available at the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center with additional parking in the overflow lot at the corner of Gateway Road and 30th Street. For more information, visit GardenOfTheGods.com.

Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup

Join the Fountain Creek Watershed District for the 2024 Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup event on April 27 from 9 a.m.-noon. Volunteers can register for a cleanup event at more than 20 sites throughout the Pikes Peak region, including several City trails and parks. Trash bags and safety vests will be provided at each site, but participants should plan ahead by wearing durable shoes or boots and work gloves. Participants under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult.
