First Large Section of Fourth Macao-Taipa Bridge Is Shipped

January 3, a huge ship carrying the first large section of the north main bridge of the Fourth Macao-Taipa Bridge has sailed from ZPMC's wharf to the bridge construction site in Macao. This is also ZPMC's first shipment in 2023.

The Fourth Macao-Taipa Sea-crossing Bridge is an important connecting channel between the Macao Peninsula and Taipa. ZPMC undertakes the construction of the steel structure of the north main bridge and the north approach bridge of the Fourth Macao-Taipa Sea-crossing Bridge, with a total weight of about 33,000 t. The steel structure will be fabricated into large sections by ZPMC and shipped to the bridge construction site in Macao. The Fourth Macao-Taipa Sea-crossing Bridge adopts crane ship lifting to erect the bridge site, and requires pre-assembly into large sections not exceeding 2,000 t at the production site, which will be shipped as a whole. The first section shipped this time has a length of 66 m, a width of 24.7 m and a weight of 1,670 t. It takes for 4 days for the in-plant transfer, roll-on loading and binding and acceptance of the large section. The successful shipment this time marks that the Fourth Macao-Taipa Bridge project has officially entered the bridge site construction stage from the off-site production.

After completion, the Fourth Macao-Taipa Bridge will serve as an important part of the overall transportation system of Macao, as well as an important traffic diversion route for the traffic flow at artificial islands of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
