Sheriff Notes August 16 2023

  • Total calls for service for our county after the end of July is at 41,642. That is a break down of police (15,590), traffic stops (11,448), animal control (942), ems (6,807), fire (1,090), and misc cad (5,765).
  • Our office handled 1,305 calls for service for the month of July.
  • The Narcotic Unit continues to stay busy and proactive. They executed a search warrant just north of Gobles and recovered meth components as well as meth. Two subjects are being charged to the incident.
  • We had a few vacant properties and seasonal residences be broke into as well as items stollen outside the buildings. We ask community members if they know a residence is seasonal or property is abandoned, to keep an eye on it as well. If you see anything suspicious, call immediately.
  • The Uniform Response Division recovered 4 stollen quads and a stollen trailer out of another county. After the investigation, they were returned to the victim.
  • The Uniform Response Division took a larceny of building materials. The materials were in another township and returned to the victims. The incident remains under investigation.
  • We unfortunately took some serious calls in the last several months in which minors were the victims. We were able to get resolutions quickly with the suspects being lodged. Due to the nature of the incidents, I won't be releasing details. I cannot stress enough how important 'it is to contact law enforcement if you think a minor is being abused or a victim in any way.
