Samsung and Kohler are leading the charge in addressing the growing demand for sustainable home solutions through advanced smart home technology and eco-conscious innovations. Today, the companies announced they are joining forces to achieve a significant advancement in water management and sustainability. This integration with the SmartThings ecosystem1 highlights both companies' dedication to enhancing home automation while promoting more efficient water use.
Kohler's Anthem smart showers can now be controlled through SmartThings, allowing users to integrate their showers with other SmartThings-compatible devices for a streamlined home automation experience.
Users who have the Anthem shower product installed can monitor the amount of shower water used directly through the brand-new water layer on SmartThings Map View, coming in early 2025, which lets family members see their entire home at a glance, and all the devices in it, from wherever they are. This functionality will be accessible through the SmartThings app on applicable Samsung Smart TVs, Family Hub, and mobile devices, providing a clear and convenient way to track shower water consumption in real-time.
The partnership offers a heightened awareness of water consumption, promoting more sustainable water usage habits. The intuitive Samsung Map View offers users direct access to their home's shower water usage, providing users a better understanding of their environmental footprint.
"Our partnership with Kohler exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and collective environmental responsibility," said Jaeyeon Jung, EVP, Head of SmartThings, Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics. "This achievement with Kohler not only enhances home automation but also supports our broader goal of promoting eco-conscious solutions that meet the growing consumer demand for sustainability."
This announcement represents SmartThings' latest commitment to sustainability. Integrated within the SmartThings ecosystem, users can use Map View to monitor and manage water consumption with real-time tracking, and insights into usage patterns. By providing actionable data and personalized recommendations, this platform supports more sustainable living practices and helps reduce overall environmental impact.
"Our partnership with Samsung SmartThings reinforces our ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation," said Laura Kohler, Chief Sustainability Officer at Kohler. "By integrating Kohler's smart products with SmartThings, we are empowering customers with the tools to manage their water consumption more effectively and contribute to a more sustainable future."
